Chateau La Chapelle Maillard

Château La Chapelle Maillard is located on the hillsides of the Dordogne on the tip of the Saint-Emilion appellation. The soil is a mix of Castillon clay and Saint-Emilion limestone.

The vineyard has been certified organic since the 1980s, applying the absolute minimum treatments to the vines and vinifying the fruit with minimal intervention to preserve its natural strengths. Their wines are aged in barrels for twelve months.

Tasting Notes

Ripe red and black fruit complimented by a strong ruby-red color in the glass. Lots of substance in the mouth; velvety tannins.


Cultivation

The entire vineyard has had organic certification since the beginning of the 1980s. The vines are grown naturally, in accordance with the official organic specifications. The vineyard surrounds the ancient umbrella pine shown on the label.


Vinification

Traditional vinification, with treatments applied to the wines kept to a strict minimum so as to preserve the terroir's natural characteristics.


Aging

Aged in barrels for 12 months.
