TASTING NOTES:
Drop the champagne, pick up the ’61 Brut. Save yourself the trouble of figuring out what Cava is worth $20 and pay up for a world class sparkling wine from a region created by this cuvee (Franciacorta was started by this winery in 1961).
Villa Cerna
Chianti Classico Riserva 2016
PRESS:
Decanter – 97 pts
Robert Parker – 91 pts
Wine Spectator –Â 93 pts
TASTING NOTES:
The Villa Cerna Chianti Classico Riserva has floral aromas, and its harmony is the result of the balance between acidity, tannins and alcohol.
Villa Rosa
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2016
PRESS:
James Suckling – 93 pts
Wine Spectator –Â 92 pts
TASTING NOTES:
The Gran Selezione Villa Rosa 2015 perfectly embodies and interprets the characteristics of its exceptional vintage, offering a ripeness, tannic texture and progression granted only by the best years. The color is vivid and rarefied, anticipating a bouquet that reveals to be extremely elegant, characterized by floral notes that overlap and intertwine with a delicate fruitiness and slight hints of spiciness.
Val delle Rose
Litorale Vermentino 2020
PRESS:
James Sucklings – 90 pts
TASTING NOTES:
Its color is pale yellow with light golden hues, has a very intense fruity aroma of summer ripe fruit. On the palate there is an important aromatic note combined with a pleasant persistence. It is a generous and intense wine with great structure and freshness.
Val delle Rose
Morellino di Scansano 2019
PRESS:
James Suckling – 91 pts
TASTING NOTES:
Morellino really means “more Sangiovese please” but Italians didn’t want to sound demanding (just kidding). This mostly Sangiovese blend comes from the Tuscan coasts and boasts flavors that make you fall in love with Sangiovese and wonder why you hadn’t had something this good in Chianti (not close to the sea)!
Val delle Rose
Aurelio Maremma Toscana 2016
PRESS:
Wine Spectator – 93 Pts
James Suckling – 93 Pts
TASTING NOTES:
This is a big wine… jam packed with intense flavors thanks to a warm growing region and great attention to detail in the cellar. Oak aged for a long time, this wine has a dark color in the glass, shows strong character on the nose from intense fruit and wood.
Tenuta Argentiera
Poggio ai Ginepri Rosso 2019
TASTING NOTES:
Impossible to find a better Super Tuscan at this price… intense red fruits with layers of spice, red flowers, and slight balsamic notes. Round and complex but elegant tannins.
Tenuta Argentiera
Villa Donoratico 2019
PRESS:
James Suckling – 93 Pts
Wine Spectator – 90 Pts
TASTING NOTES:
Rich, opulent, and forward on fruit. Punches above its weight for body, structure, and density. A full bodied, powerful red from Bolgheri that many Super Tuscans aspire to be.
Tenuta Argentiera
Bolgheri Superiore 2017
PRESS:
James Suckling – 96-97 Pts
Decanter – 96 Pts
TASTING NOTES:
Deep ruby red color with a nose expressing complex cherry, plum, and spice tones on a backbone of leather, black pepper, and almonds. Mint and eucalyptus sponsor the spice tones coming from perfect Cabernet Franc vines while sweet tobacco leaf notes offer depth supported by vanilla and toffee oak notes.
So great to meet you! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions.
